Akela kibble is extruded with a Thermal Twin extruder using the lowest temperatures possible; producing more digestible foods without the nutrient degradation that can be seen at high temperature processing. The extrusion and drying processes do not use very high temperatures – just over 90 degrees centigrade (the minimum for safety reasons) and under 180 degrees centigrade - this is lower than you would cook a pizza at! This means that proteins stay highly digestible and natural vitamins and minerals survive the process better. Some ingredients are added after extrusion too - for example all vitamin levels stated in the nutritional additive section are added after cooking to guarantee minimum levels.

So pleased I found Akela small paws, my Shih Tzu puppy was on another brand but after two weeks of doing half & half now on Akela only. Delivery is impressive and good choice size bags which are re sealable. Good customer service too and helpful advice on website and web chat. My dogs has been on Akela for the past week.Price Quality
We had no problems with the changeover from their old food- no dodge tummy etc.
They absolutely love their food and hoover it up instantly.
Poo is now very small and easy to pick up and coats are beautifully shiny.

I needed a high quality dry food that was produced in small biscuits, and in most brands they seem to penalise you for this by having expensive 3 and 5kg sacks! I have 5 dogs I don't want 5kg!
Usually choosing the next food to try is an arduous process, but literally I saw this brand and simply bought it, high meat, grain free, small biscuits, affordable, free-run chicken and eggs, ticked all the boxes.
The food arrived within 24 hours even though I chose the cheapest delivery, it was well packaged and I was happy to note was in a resealable bag!
It smelled and looked good and I tried it with my fussiest girl who won't put anything in her mouth bigger than a child's pinkie finger nail, and she demolished the bowl! - Very happy customer :-) Obviously enthusiasm has diminished over the past 6 weeks however all 5 still eat it happily.
The food was a very easy transition, they were all on it within the week and their stomachs are quite settled on it. I don't get any unpleasant aromas in the house or difficult the clean up surprises in the garden.

Brilliant, high quality food at an amazing price. I love this because I know my dog is eating something that benefits his health & because I know exactly what he is getting ingredients wise. I assume my dog loves it because it tastes good as he seems to inhale it. Even though he's tiny I order the original size just to slow him down a bit. Many thanks Akela from us both. I paid for the 1 day delivery as I wanted to get started with the change over ASAP, as soon as the delivery driver put it on the floor my dog was trying to break into the bag! This is the dog who won't eat his current food unless mixed with wet. So I preceded to mix into his old food for the first time, no wet food, lots of excitement from the dog and ate every little bit......and leaving all his old stuff on the side of the plate! I ordered a 1.5kg bag to try him on. He LOVES it, cannot get enough of it. He 'wolfs!' It down and looks for more! It looks like I am giving him less compared to his previous food (which he would only eat if there was nothing else on offer) but I think this is due to the purity and quality of the ingredients and the lack of 'filler'.
I feel safe in the knowledge that my pup is having a food that he loves and is great for him!
Have just ordered a 10 kg bag which should last a good 2 months.
