See Feeding Guide Tab For Full Info

Akela kibble is extruded with a Thermal Twin extruder using the lowest temperatures possible; producing more digestible foods without the nutrient degradation that can be seen at high temperature processing. The extrusion and drying processes do not use very high temperatures – just over 90 degrees centigrade (the minimum for safety reasons) and under 180 degrees centigrade - this is lower than you would cook a pizza at! This means that proteins stay highly digestible and natural vitamins and minerals survive the process better. Some ingredients are added after extrusion too - for example all vitamin levels stated in the nutritional additive section are added after cooking to guarantee minimum levels.

For years I have been trying to find the best dog food out there. Finally I have found it. My cocker spaniel puppy loves it and is thriving on it. Definitely worth paying slightly more as you get what you pay for. (Posted on 09/10/2015)
Excellent quality Food Review by Ebony

We have a young Cocker Spaniel now 9 months and she loves Akela, she was previously on a so called "good quality" puppy food and she ate because she had too not because she enjoyed it.

We requested a sample first and put both Akela and the other brand to the test she walked over to both bowls and she left the old food to be destined for the food bin.

Her tail wags non stop when eating Akela, her coat has a little bit more sheen to it and she looks every bit a fit a healthy dog.

Service from Whole Prey is very good which adds to the positive experience.

Keep up the great work.

Our puppy loves this stuff and clears his bowl every time. It is very cost effective and makes good sense to use. His coat is glossy and he has loads of energy.
Cannot recommend this enough as it is a top food. (Posted on 09/09/2015)
FAB! Review by Val

Both Doodles love it! I got a taster bag and did a few tests offering small quantities of new and old food at the same time (not so much for the dogs but to convince sceptical husband). Whether the food was in a bowl or laid out for them to track, they always went for the Akela first. The final test was for both dogs to go at the same time. What can I say, Finn ate the Akela and Izzy turned up her nose at the old food, choosing to queue for the Akela. Let diners decide, I say.... (Posted on 04/09/2015)

I've been doing a lot of research on the Internet about optimal
nutrition for dogs and Akela is by far the best quality product for the price. I wasn't sure if my Westie would like it but he literally hoovered it up from the first time he tried the sample. His stomach has been much better since he has been eating this and he seems to be less hungry afterwards. I love the fact that it's made in Britain as well from very high quality ingredients. I'm so glad we made the change to Akela! (Posted on 31/08/2015)
Great Product, Truly No 1 in UK Review by Coronah

This food is as good as it says on the pack. Even All about dog food dot com gave it highest rating and it's No 1.
Our Ridgeback Girl is 1y3m and she's on second bag of it. Slightly dry skin and soft-ish poop is history. Now our 12 weeks old boy is transition into Akela as well. one poop a day. All nice in firm, minimum smell and he wolfs it down like mad. (Posted on 30/07/2015)
Absolutely brilliant Review by Titan loves this!

I have a 10 week old American Akita Puppy and all I can say is he loves this. He was previously on K9 optimum but I wanted the best for my dog within a budget. I found Akela that wasn't only fantastic for its ingredients and no nasties etc, it is around half the price of others of the same quality.

Titan has been on Akela for 2 weeks now and since then I am forever getting positive comments for his remarkable coat. He is full of energy and is looking more muscular by the day.

If you care about your dog I would immediately advise you to switch your dog food to Akela and see the difference, Titan will be fed this until his days are over! (Posted on 27/07/2015)
Great quality food. Review by Shirl

My young GSD was on what I thought was good food from a pup, so at 14 months old to find a far superior food for her was essential. After many weeks of research I found Akela, and what a change in my dog. Quality all round. Thank you Akela from myself and my very grateful GSD. (Posted on 20/07/2015)
Akela, the leader of the dog food pack. Review by Tim Frost

Having researched dog food, I was horrified with what I found out about the well known brands that fill our supermarkets and vets shelves (the profit munching, who cares about your dog's health organisations).

With this new insight I set out to find a dog food I would want to eat myself if I was a dog. I came across Akela and was immediately impressed. All the ingredients were transparent for all to see, no hidden horrors disguised with words such as 'derivatives'.

I transitioned both my dogs over with ease using the 75%, 50%, 25% technique and there was no problems. Both are now happy at meal times, bounding to the kitchen instead of that lathargic stroll they did before.

Health wise both dogs are now in top shape, their stature has improved along with assertiveness and energy. Their coats shine and gloss in the light and their eyes seem more alive.

For anyone thinking about buying any other dog food I implore you not to! I can't stress how good this feed is for the price it is! I have a tight budget just like everyone else and this is a quality product at an unbeatable price! Certainly there are cheaper feeds but you will end up feeding more because of the lower nutritional value.

The company really does care and this shows in nice little touches like great customer service, resealable sacks, saving us money, being VAT free and bringing out new products when there is enough demand.

For those who don't want to take my word for it, the other reviews speak for themselves and I would recommend this dog food to anyone; which I do regularly when out and about with them both.

I'd just like to say thank you Akela in doing a great job and give yourselves all a big pat on the back!
